At the very beginning of the Truther’s Portal I wanted to inject the idea of objectivity by presenting the “counter” narrative. Let’s face it, I don’t really need to present the mainstream/legacy media perspective because:
a. it is very easy to find and readily available
b. for the most part, it is very much one sided
Very few legacy mainstream news sources present different perspectives. They generally seem to only present views that are in line with government views and/or narratives. Rarely do I ever see these news sources really challenge the government narrative on any subject (e.g. climate change, the pandemic, pro-choice, critical race theory, the Ukraine War – this link really supports today’s news post). You can name any “woke” political spin that we get from both the politicians and the news media outlets and you will get a very controlled, one sided perspective.
Today’s news post, here at the Truther’s Portal, was inspired by an article that I received from a friend which covers an interview with a woman by the name of: Marianne Klowak (a former former Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reporter). For a long time, here in Canada, the CBC has been labelled a “state funded, extremely biased” news outlet. Many Canadians now completely discredit the CBC as a valid news source any more. If you take the time to look at this news report closely, I think you’ll understand why the CBC deserves to be labelled as such.
One of the very early submissions to the Truther’s Portal was an article called “Sources of Information and Credibility (Fake vs Real?)“. The article first shows a meme quoting a true and trusted journalist, Walter Cronkite.
This is a very important quote, coming from one of the world’s best known news reporters when the news meant something, because this statement is foundational for the pursuit of truth and integrity.
Let’s take a few minutes to build this story up with a few references to provide a baseline for the main part of this story (i.e. The CBC reporter that left her job due to integrity concerns Marianne Klowak, this is really the icing on the cake).
Because this has to do with the CBC, we will focus on the Liberal Party of Canada and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Let’s go back in time to Trudeau’s first term as prime minister. This prime minister has been accused of buying off various Canadian media outlets in order to establish control over the news so that they would be favorable to him and his party. Here is a small video where he (supposedly) joked about buying off the new media:

Let’s Fact Check This Story First
As you would expect, the fact checking websites came out in full force to defend his statements as merely “joking” around to indicate that he was mocking the conspiracy “theorists” such as the following article:

I felt compelled to include this fact checking website as a precursor to the following stream of information. As you might know, if you’ve followed the Truther’s Portal, fact checkers and fact check websites are taken with a grain of salt here.

These pages have been saved for future reference in case they get scrubbed or censored. Keep in mind that Trudeau is desperately trying to get his Bill C-11 passed (i.e. the internet censorship bill) in order to shut down independent news media that does not conform to his government’s approval. Can you imagine such a piece of legislation here in Canada?
#2. CanadaLand – Which Media Benefitted From The Trudeau Government’s Covid-19 Funds?
Rebel Media did acknowledge the CanadaLand article coming out before theirs. But who cares, the content is what matters. This article is really damning for the Liberal government and Trudeau. Here’s one example of where Trudeau provided Maclean’s with funding right from the Government of Canada website under “Grants and Contributions” – Click Here. You can fact check this all you want but, again, this is directly from the government’s official website.

#3. Blackrock’s Reporter – Now The Subsidies Are Secret
Both Rebel Media and CanadaLand referred to this Blackrock’s Reporter news article. This is supposed to be on of the top independent news outlets in Canada but it is not one of the funded/approved sources for the government and neither are the other two mentioned (above). This just makes me want to look at their stuff even more. It’s like telling a kid not to touch something. They go right for it.
The Main Event
Ever watch a pay-per-view event like a boxing match where you have to watch a few fights before they finally get to the main event. Well here we are, finally. This next article is the whole reason for today’s news post. As mentioned earlier, here we have a whistle blower, former CBC reporter Marianne Klowak essentially spilling the beans about how the CBC operated during the C-19 pandemic. Now, in my opinion, the CBC is one of worst when it comes to being a biased, state funded institution. Former prime minister Stephen Harper had threatened, numerous times, to defund the CBC. When you do this (i.e. research) long enough you start getting good at connecting dots. To go along with the CBC whistleblower story (above), I remembered that I covered a very similar story to do with “Global News”, another Canadian media outlet that is probably as bad as the CBC and very likely has a bigger viewership. On February 12, 2022, the Truther’s Portal had the following report. Fascism In Progress
After all of this, when we add the Liberal Government’s Bill C-11 as a backdrop, we begin to see a very clear picture of fascism as the center piece in the Canadian political space. If Canadians aren’t alarmed yet by this government, then Canada is in a coma. Here’s a web page that has a stream of very concerning videos and links associated with this bill. We must fight and reject this government completely:

So, after this fairly extensive stream of references, do you still think that “fact checkers” provide any value on any political subject? Even more to the point, do politicians provide any value in addressing any subject that they push onto the public along with their state funded news outlets? Do you feel like you’re being played or manipulated?
Almost every story that is profiled on any of the mainstream/legacy news outlets has a counter story. Does Walter Cronkite’s quote, at the beginning of this news post, now resonate with you better? Or what about the following quote from Joseph Goebbels (chief propagandist for the Nazi Party):

The Irony Of It All – Questioning What You Hear
There is a brutal irony for those of us who try to present alternative news sources. Quite often when either my wife or I try to discuss alternative perspectives with others, particularly with people who do not research anything and who only listen to what’s being broadcast on the local news or their woke social media streams, they immediately challenge your “alternative” sources and also call this stuff “fake” news without even looking at what you are referencing. My question to those people is this: “How do you know your news is true and why don’t you ever question it?”.
Why don’t they apply the same rigor of thinking across the board? That’s the irony of it all.
Fake vs Real?
So what’s fake and what’s real? In order to come as close to the truth as possible (and sometimes it’s not possible), you have approach each news topic with an open mind. This means that you MUST allow yourself to be exposed to a broad range of sources that provide very different and conflicting perspectives. You must RESIST the temptation or the urge to throw away stories that don’t conform to your thinking (i.e. cognitive dissonance).
Another Litmus test for any given news story is the existence of source/real references. Many mainstream/legacy news reports are really shoddy and lack any real substance or detail to validate against. I believe that these news outlets have become extremely lazy because they’ve gotten away with “assumed” “De facto” public trust for decades. In many cases they’re right to assume this because many people still think that they are trusted news sources and, therefore, don’t need to be or even shouldn’t be challenged.
However, this is changing. Alternative and independent news sources do not have this luxury (i.e. assumed, De facto trust). I find that these sources have to work much harder and produce a lot more evidence (e.g. sourced references) and detail to support their stories in order to gain credibility. This is why I constantly search for these sources as a backdrop to the mainstream/legacy news stories. You can find many of these sources embedded within the pages of the Truther’s Portal. Although, I don’t know if I’ve revealed all my sources yet.
A good example of this is the news on the Russia/Ukraine war. The Truther’s Portal has presented some excellent sources on this global issue. Every time I see someone waving a Ukraine flag, I wonder if they really have the full spectrum of information on this issue. Because, when you allow yourself to be presented with alternative news on this subject, you start getting a very different feeling about it.
